Virgin Media has announced pre-order price points for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, ahead of the phones’ official streetdate of September 25th.

The iPhone 6S is up for grabs from £34 per month with no upfront charge on Virgin Media’s Freestyle tariff. That’s gets you 250 minutes and 250MB of data per month, plus unlimited texts.

Given the choice, though, we’d probably opt for the £39 per month option, which includes a more realistic monthly data allowance of 1GB, as well as 2,500 minutes and unlimited texts. Once again, there’s no upfront charge for the phone.

If those sound like competitive prices, they are. But there is a catch. And that’s the mobile internet service you get on Virgin Media is 3G, rather than the 4G and even faster Cat6 4G+ service of which the new iPhone is capable.

At the time of writing, the iPhone 6S Plus was listed on drop-down menus on Virgin Media’s site, but wasn’t available to buy. That may be just because it’s out of stock.

Or it could be that Virgin Media has opted not to stock it at all. Which isn’t out of the question given that last year’s iPhone 6 Plus appealed to a pretty niche market compared with the standard iPhone 6.

Either way, we’ve given Virgin Media’s press team a shout and we’ll report back with their answer.
