Microsoft has a new Lumia-branded phone up its sleeve. But it could be the last-ever.
The Lumia 650 is set to debut on February 1st, but Microsoft won't launching it with a publicity blitz.
Instead of holding a launch party, it will merely announce the handset on its blog. That's according to Windows Central, which has spoken to sources familiar with the matter.
The Lumia 750 and 850 were reportedly intended to arrive later, but have now been cancelled.
That means the Lumia 650 will likely be the last Lumia phone we see this year, possibly ever. Sad times.
However, Microsoft isn't bowing out of mobile market entirely. Instead, it will focus its energies on its flagship Panos phone, which will most probably come bearing Surface branding.
Microsoft has had some success with the well reviewed Surface range of tablet/laptop hybrids, so let's hope its phone lives up to its name.
The first Windows 10 Lumia left a lot to be desired.
Microsoft bought the Lumia brand when it completed the acquisition of Nokia's mobile division back in 2014.
