LG lifted the lid on its G5 flagship smartphone today, with a 'transformable' design that allows users to turn it into a Hi-Fi or high-end audio player.

The phone, which takes modular design mainstream, is being sold alongside a family of compatible devices dubbed LG Playground that allow users to customise their handset’s spec sheet.
The LG Cam Plus, for instance, allows you to ‘transform’ it into a luxe standalone camera with a camera module. This includes physical buttons for power, shutter, record, zoom, LED indicator, as well as an exposure lock and extra battery capacity of 1,200mAh.

Users can also boost the phone's music credentials with Bang & Olufsen speakers, via the LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O PLAY add-on.

All LG Family accessories are attached by the user to the bottom of the phone's aluminum unibody design.

That's also where you'll find the removable battery, allowing users to swap for a new one if they're running low.

Elsewhere, it’s home to an always-on 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS Quantum display, which displays time and date at all times. Even when the G5 is in sleep mode.

Debuted on the LG V10, this always-on mode only takes up a third of the screen and LG claims it takes up just 0.8% of the battery every hour.

Apple’s plans to bring its Force Touch tech to the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus has been a mainstay of the rumour mill all year. So much so that it's inclusion seems nailed on.

What makes the version being used in the iPhone 6S more interesting than the existing tech in the Apple Watch and MacBook is its apparent ability to offer a so–called ‘third dimension’.

Sources close to Apple have claimed that the company will brand the tech as '3D Touch Display' rather than Force Touch.

This means that as well as recognising the difference between a tap and a press, the iPhone 6S will have a special 'deep-press' function.

How this will work in practice will be revealed at Apple’s event on September 9th, but previous rumours have suggested Force Touch, and by extension its 3D stablemate, will be able to cut out taps to make using apps easier.

The most obvious example is within Maps. Rather than tapping on a destination, then selecting your intended destination then confirming your choice, a deeper press will let you navigate directly to wherever you're headed.

Likewise, it is thought that a long press on an app icon will access specific functionality, be it a new message within iMessage or voicemail via the Phone app.

It all sounds pretty neat. And on the one hand, it’s something that clearly sets Apple’s iPhones apart from the crowd.

An Apple patent filing been discovered that appears to refer to 3D Force Touch, adding fresh detail to what we know of the updated touch-sensitive tech that's due to appear in the new iPhone 6S.

The filing from July this year, which was unearthed by Patently Apple, makes direct reference to pressure being measured as the “sum of three components.”

A separate report earlier this week suggested that as well as being able to distinguish between a tap and a press, as on the MacBook and Apple Watch, Cupertino would add a third layer of pressure-sensitivity to the iPhone version of Force Touch.

This so–called 'deep press', which just means you'll be depressing the screen for longer, should give access to different features compared to a standard swipe or press.

The inclusion of Force Touch in the iPhone 6S has been mooted for months.

The tech’s existence in other Apple products has already given an indication of what we can expect, but these last-minute rumours suggest we may be getting something a bit richer than previously thought.

Apple will reveal its new iPhones at a special event on September 9th in San Francisco.

Apple will allow ad blocking software to be used in Safari for iOS for the first time when it rolls out iOS 9 to iPhone and iPad users over the next few days.

The extensions will be available as apps from the App Store, working in much the same way as third-
party keyboards do on the iPhone.

It could mean web pages load quicker and battery life is improved, an issue Apple has been grappling with ever since it first launched the iPhone back in 2007.

The new iPhone 6S is said to have a smaller, but more efficient battery than previous models.

Ad blockers are already popular on desktops, but with iOS handling more than half of mobile web users according to recent research by Pagefair, the move is likely to be a big concern for businesses.

Advertising insiders say it could seriously harm small and medium-sized media outlets especially.

The news comes as the dedicated AdBlock Plus browser launches in the App Store and Google Play. The browser is expected to be a hit among those who hate having their web experience slowed down by ads.

Apple has officially held its hands up and admitted that there’s a fault with a small number of iPhone 6 Plus handsets sold last year.

The issue is with the device’s iSight camera, with users complaining about blurry snaps. It’s believed to be down to a problem with the phablet’s optical image stabilisation tech, prompting Apple to announce it will fix broken devices.

If you’ve got an iPhone 6 Plus and want to know if you qualify and where you stand legally, read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the official Apple scheme.

1 Get your serial number handy

Apple says the handsets affected were ‘sold primarily between September 2014 and January 2015’.

If yours is affected, you’ll need to find your phone’s serial number and enter it into the official checker on Apple’s website to see if it’s eligible for the fix.

To find the serial number, simply go to the Settings app, tap on General and then About. The number can be copied over from there.

Alternatively, you can find the serial number of your iPhone 6 Plus’s box if you still have it or via the summary tab when you plug your iPhone into iTunes.

Three’s free roaming Feel at Home scheme delivers savings of £330 year to each customer, the carrier claims, as it touts its value-adding sweetener during peak holiday season.

Feel at Home enables Three customers to use their phones and tablets abroad for no extra charge. It works by effectively extending the reach of their UK allowance of minutes, texts and data to 18 overseas locations, which now include Britons' favourite holiday hotspots Spain and France.

According to Three, since the introduction of the scheme in 2013 subscribers have saved a total of £1.3 billion, with 538,000 people benefiting from Feel at Home during August and September alone.

Interestingly, Three claims that the average customer gets through 500MB of data per trip overseas. That’s a not inconsiderable amount, given that the average UK contract features a monthly download limit of around 2GB.

ianne Norry, director of brand & comms at Three, said: “Three was the first UK network to allow customers to use their phones abroad at no extra cost, to banish bill-shock and improve peoples’ holiday experiences. We continue to lead the way in making roaming charges fairer.

"The fact that we’ve saved our customers a whopping £1.3 billion proves the true extent of the great roaming rip-off, people are being treated unfairly by other networks, so we will continue to make it right for them with Feel at Home.”
