We  know the iPhone 6S will get three levels of Force Touch, which is one more than the Apple Watch and MacBook. But that's not all that's changing. It now seems the screen could be in for a bump in resolution too.

According to a leak from Weibo user @KJuma, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6S will have a resolution of 1,125x2,000 pixels, giving it a pixel per inch count of 488ppi. Which would be quite a step up from the iPhone 6's resolution of 750x1,134, and 326ppi.

The iPhone 6S Plus is also said to be in line for a significant jump in resolution, from 1,080x1,920 pixels (401ppi) to 1,242x2,208 (466ppi).

Both screens are rumoured to stay the same size. Indeed, both phones are expected to look almost identical to their predecessors, though they might be slightly fatter to prevent another bendgate.

The Chinese site also claims to have the iPhone 6S's specs via a benchmark from Geekbench. It claims the handset will have a 1.8GHz A9 SoC chipset with 2GB of RAM.

Of course these are unsubstantiated, so take it all with a pinch of salt. But there's not long until the rumours are dispelled and we know for sure.

Apple has been forced to deny a story that it is working on a tool to help iPhone users switch to Android devices.

The Cupertino company issued a rebuttal to the claims, stating that there is "no truth to this rumor [sic]. We are entirely focused on switching users from Android to iPhone, and that is going great".

The Telegraph reported that Apple was working on the app as a result of pressure from European mobile networks concerned about slowing sales of Android handsets.

The app reportedly would have helped users move music, movies, contacts and apps across to their new device.

Apple, however, already has an app, called ‘Move to iOS’, which does exactly that for users looking to switch from Android.

And having made a huge play of their success in convincing Google users to change devices, this rumour always seemed unlikely.

Apple claimed last October that 30% of new iPhone owners had switched from Android.

WhaatsApp has confirmed it is to drop its annual $1 subscription fee, with the Facebook–owned messaging service set to go free from 19th January.

The announcement was made by Jan Koum, the founder of WhatsApp, at a conference in Munich.

It calls time on a business model that has existed since the service was founded and which saw users given free use of the service for their first year before having to pay a dollar every twelve months thereafter.

WhatsApp has directly addressed concerns about whether scrapping the fee means users being sent ads to cover costs.

In an official blog post, it said: “Naturally, people might wonder how we plan to keep WhatsApp running without subscription fees and if today’s announcement means we’re introducing third-party ads. The answer is no.”

Instead, it will hook up with businesses to try and 'unify messaging' from the likes of banks and airlines.

So you might get a message from your bank about what appears to be a fraudulent transaction. Or your airline could notify you about a delayed flight.

The aim appears to be to try and make WhatsApp the go–to tool for getting day–to–day errands done.

It’s also likely that as WhatsApp launches in countries where users do not always have debit or credit cards, it needs to be less reliant on such payment methods.

The iPhone 6S will cost mere mortals like you and I at least £539 when it goes on sale on September 25th, but how much does it cost Apple to make?

The Bank of America Merrill Lynch has taken a look at all the parts that make up the new handset and reckons that it comes in at about $234 in parts (that’s around £150).

The most expensive elements are the iPhone 6S’s semiconductor pieces which set the company back $127 in total (£83) - these include things like sensors and processors - while the screen, camera and battery add up to $73 (£48) and the remaining bits and pieces like the shell of the handset itself add a further $33 (£22).

Then, of course, you have to factor in Apple’s manufacturing, distribution and marketing costs.

Snazzy launch shows like last Wednesday’s don’t come cheap and neither do huge marketing campaigns, so Apple isn’t raking in a cool £389 every time someone buys an iPhone 6S.

It’s not doing badly though, let’s face it.

Apple has broken its silence on the subject of the ‘undeleteables’ - apps that come pre-installed on iPhones and iPads, and are impossible to remove.

We’re talking about things like Stocks, which anecdotal evidence would suggest that literally no one uses, the Watch app which is only any use to you if you are one of the eight people in the world who owns an Apple Watch, and iBooks which is the digital equivalent of a dusty, cobweb-strewn library shelf.

Some of the undeletable apps are useful, of course - Notes, Mail, Maps and Passbook all have their roles to play if you haven’t already replaced them with better third-party apps that do the same things - but Tips? Has anyone ever actually used Tips?

Tim Cook has finally conceded that Apple is at least thinking about maybe letting you delete some of them.

He told Buzzfeed: “This is a more complex issue than it first appears.

“There are some apps that are linked to something else on the iPhone. If they were to be removed they might cause issues elsewhere on the phone. There are other apps that aren’t like that.
